With boundless gratitude, I, Fatai Ulamea Koloamatangi Unga, feel truly blessed to have been born and raised in the enchanting island of Tonga, a precious jewel nestled in the South Pacific Ocean, where kindness and compassion flourish abundantly. The roots of my business name are deeply embedded in my family’s rich cultural legacy, a heritage that has been unfolding magnificently over generations. ‘Otumapa’ is more than just the land of my ancestors; it is a treasured inheritance that has been lovingly passed down through our lineage, a priceless heritage that remains close to my heart and is now shared among my siblings and me. Growing up, I was privileged to witness the embodiment of compassion, community, and caring through my parents’ selfless lives, lessons that have been instrumental in shaping my journey with purpose and determination. Embarking on this business venture was not without its challenges, but perseverance and faith became my guiding forces. Initially, I juggled multiple jobs to make ends meet, and there were moments when the road seemed daunting, but reflecting on the invaluable lessons from my parents strengthened my resolve to push forward with unwavering dedication. Their legacy instilled in me an insatiable quest for knowledge, prompting me to pursue extensive training in the healthcare industry. My journey, spanning roles from CNA to caregiver, home health aide, medication technician, 10 years of acute care experience, Reminiscence Coordinator, and the experience of working one-on-one, has been profoundly humbling and enriching. Every step I took was towards ensuring I met all the required certifications in the State of California, driven by my passion to deliver exceptional care. All these experiences propelled me towards my main goal, which is to open a business where I can provide safe, supportive, and personalized residential care for elderly individuals in a warm and nurturing environment where dignity, comfort, and daily wellness are paramount. I am truly blessed to have had my parents’ guidance and God’s presence every step of the way, and I remain thankful for the invaluable life lessons that continue to shape my path with purpose and joy. This is just the Beginning, not the end.
